Lost Worlds of the Stone Age in Travertine

The 5th GEPAARD conference will be held in Gánovce on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Neanderthal endocast discovery at the site and the 140th anniversary of the establishing of the Podtatranské Museum in Poprad. The main topic of this year's Geological-Palaeontological-Archaeological Discussion is focused on information on the latest results of the Palaeolithic research, mainly at travertine sites.Travertine as an important source of our knowledge about the nature history, including also the history of mankind, is relatively abundant in Slovakia, often forming huge heaps to cascades. Their existence is linked to the presence of mineral freshwater, in many cases, thermal springs that have affected the environment and the climate in the vicinity.
